Leentjen Weenen-Löwenstein drowned herself in the Ringvaart, near Transvaalkade, out of fear of what might happen to her. A former neighbour recalls that Leentje Weenen seldom went outside any more: 'It is incomprehensible that she found an opportunity to leave the house unnoticed and found her way to the water'. Leentjen Weenen-Löwenstein was buried at the Jewish Cemetery in Diemen.
