Lea Chelem was a daughter of Itzik Chelem and Hanna Behr. She married 22 October 1930 in Amsterdam to Maurits Montezinos, son of Raphael Montezinos and Esther da Silva Abenatar. The couple had one daughter: Isabella Mary.
Lea's siblings were Sila, Salomon, Suzanna, survivor of the Holocaust and married to Meijer Denneboom, Gaye and Fride
