Mozes Tertaas was a son of Hartog Isaac Tertaas and Betje Hartog Gaubits. He married 19 May 1886 in Amsterdam Rebecca Leeda, a daughter of Benni Joseph Leeda and Hanna da Silva Roza. The couple had seven children: two of them survived the war. The other five children, Elisabeth, Hartog, Benjamin, Philip and Gidion did not survive the Holocaust.
