Jeremias Marcus Heertje started to work in the company of his brother Hartog Heertjes. After Hartog died in 1941, Jeremias continued the business, Istruewn. As a result of the anti-Jewish regulations there was an administrator ('Verwalter') appointed for Istruewn in 1942.
