Gontje Vis-van Thijn was stand-in teacher at the Jewish school no. 2 (Nieuwe Uilenburgerstraat 96 c in Amsterdam). Of her remains a decree made by the mayor of Amsterdam to appoint Gontje Vis-van Thijn teacher of the Jewish School no. 2 effective from 24 September 1941. Her annual salary from 24 September 1941 was fl. 1,354.- By the end of the year, the Amsterdam community issued a declaration saying that Gontje Vis-van Thijn had been given leave from 8 October 1941 to and including 29 November 1941 to 'recover from ill health'.
