Meijer Workum was een zoon van Levie Workum and Judic Stoodel. He married 14 November 1900 in Amsterdam to Esther Lessing, a daughter from Aron Lessing and Judic van Rooije.
The couple had five children, of whom one son and his whole family have survived the war. The others, who have been killed during the Holocaust were David, still living with his parents, Judith, Izaac and Levie.
