The Nieuw Israëlietisch Weekblad of 17 August 2001 features an interview with the singer Mathilde (nicknamed Tilly) Blog. In the interview with Basia Jaworksi, she speaks to her mother, Malka Marie Leboerken:" 'My mother had gone into hiding in Laren. She was collected by Maartje Toonder, the wife of Jan Toonder who was Maarten's brother. Through the grapevine, I obtained my mother's address, which meant I could go and see her as often as possible. That is, until the accident.' The accident? She does not really want to talk about it, but then says quietly: 'She suffocated in February 1945 due to a leak in a gas pipe".
