Helene Lehmann was the widow of Dr. Moritz Spanier, who was the religious teacher in Magdeburg from 1881.

Helene Spanier-Lehmann had four children. Two of these children, Gertrud and Arthur lived in the Netherlands during the war. A third child lived in the United States and survived the war. A fourth child commited suicide.

Helene Lehmann, widow of H. Spanier, died on 3 June 1943 in Westerbork transit camp and she was cremated on 7 June 1943. The urn with her ashes was placed on the Jewish cemetry in Diemen on field U, row 5, grave nr. 18.
