Elisabeth de Leeuw was a daughter of Manuel de Leeuw and Jetje de Jong. She married Karel Beesemer in 1893 in Amsterdam. He died in 1932. They had seven children, of whom two died before they reached adulthood. Of the other five children Judith, Salomon and Regina did not survive the war.
