Jacob 'Sjaak' Manheim was the second child of Saartje d'Ancona and Izak Manheim. Jacob Manheim was born in the 'Witte Dorp' neighbourhood in Oud-Mathenesse, Rotterdam. When he was young, he moved to the Eerste Staringstraat 7, in Spangen also in Rotterdam.
On 30 July 1942 Jacob Manheim was picked up from home to go 'work' in Eastern Europe. On 31 July 1942 he was registered in Westerbork transit camp and from there he was deported on 3 augustus 1942 to Auschwitz.
