Heiman Nathan Levitus was the third child. His father survived the war, and his mother, Roosje Engelander, died in 1922. After his mother died, Heiman Nathan Levitus was sent to the De Berg-stichting children's home in Laren. When he came of age, he moved to Amsterdam and stayed with his mother's relatives.
During a raid in January 1943 he was caught and deported to Auschwitz via Westerbork.
A photocopy remains of Heiman Nathan Levitus' birth certificate.
