Izaak Hofstede was married. He and his wife had two children. The family lived in Arnhem. Izaak Hofstede was a sales representative at the IJzer firm in Amsterdam.
During the occupation Izaak Hofstede joined the Landelijke Organisatie voor Hulp aan Onderduikers [national organization for aid to those in hiding] (LO). On 18 January 1944 he was caught in Arnhem and held at the house of detention there. He was deported to Auschwitz via Westerbork. Izak Hofstede's wife survived the war.
