Elisabeth Barber was a daughter of Manus Barber and Flora van Velzen. She married 5 December 1928 in Amsterdam Jacob Cohen, a son of Meijer Cohen and Leentje Smeer. The couple had no children.
Elisabeth Barber was born in a family of elven children; one brother died at young age and one sister survived the war. Her other siblings, Meijer, Judic, Sientje, Marianne, Sara, Salomon, Frederika and Isaac have been killed all during the Holocaust.
