Simon Voorzanger, a diamond worker, was a son of Mozes Voorzanger and Regina Polak. He married 3 May 1905 in Zaandam to Roosje Blits, a daughter of Philip Blits and Aaltje Booleman. The couple had two children: Simon and a daughter who has survived the war.
Simon was born in a family with six children. His brother Leon moved to Antwerp in 1908. His sisters Duifje and Sophia and his brothers Jacob and Bernard, have been killed during the Holocaust.
