About Leentje Waterman-Krant

Leentje (or Lenie) Krant worked as a seamstress at a small fashion house in Bussum. In 1942, Leentje was living in Amsterdam and was engaged to a Mr Waterman. This Mr Waterman was interned in a camp, but was allowed to go to Amsterdam for his wedding. He was told that if he did not return, someone else would be shot in his place. Despite numerous warnings, Leentje voluntarily accompanied her husband back to the camp after the wedding. Leentje’s father owned a rag shop in Hilversum.
