Charlotte 'Lotte' was sent to live with a Dutch Jewish family during WW1 to avoid famine. She later returned and married their only son. When the Nazis came her husband was first taken to Westerbork. He wrote Lotte a letter, most likely forced by the Nazis, encouraging Lotte and their son, Lecky, to join him. Although everyone told her not to go, Lotte missed her husband so much that she and their son went to Westerbork. A letter was later sent by Lecky telling his grandmother that they were preparing to go on a nice trip. That was the last that was heard from them.
