Abraham Pijpeman was a son of Wolf Pijpeman, dealer in sponges, and Roosje Trijtel. Abraham had six other brothers and one sister, namely Hartog, Samuel Hartog, Meijer, Joseph, Jacob, Philip and Sara. Only his sister Sara has survived the Holocaust. His mother passed away already in 1926 in Rotterdam but his father and all his brothers were killed in the Shoah.
When he was almost 7 years old, had no mother anymore and had to depend on his father for his nurture, he was placed on 19 June 1926 in the Israelitic Orphanage at Mathenesserlaan 208 in Rotterdam. Since 3 November 1933 he was a resident of the S.A. Rudelsheimstichting at Verdilaan 10 in Hilversum, in institute for subnormal children. Abraham Pijpeman has been deported from there on 7 April 1943, together with all other inhabitants and killed in Sobibor on 16 April 1943.
