Samuel Davids was a son of Isaac Davids and Cornelia Hart. He was born on 7 April 1870 in Rotterdam and he earned his living as waiter, money messenger and warehouse chief. He married 14 October 1897 in Rotterdam the non-Jewish Cornelia Heesius, who was born 12 July 1870 in Dordrecht and with whom he had four children.
