Abraham Roodenburg was a son of David Roodenburg and Hendrika Engelsman. He had six other siblings, namely Joseph, Hijman, Sara, Geesje, Benjamin and Matthijs. Hijman, born 4 May 1895 passed 13 May 1931; Sara and Matthijs survived the war, just as Geesje Roodenburg. Her husband Andries Wurms and two of her children were killed in the Holocaust. Joseph passed away in 1941 in Amsterdam but Benjamin and Abraham were killed in the Shoah.
Abraham Roodenburg married 27 June 1928 in Amsterdam Rosa Kraal, a daugher of Meijer Kraal and Sophia Boas. The couple had one son, Henri, who was born in Amsterdam 16 May 1929.
Abraham Roodenburg was dealer, vendor, coffeehouse owner and fuel trader. After his marriage he lived with his wife Rosa Kraal at Nieuwe Achtergracht 132 ground floor, moved 16 January 1927 to Nieuwe Achtergracht 112 ground floor and per 23 February 1931 to Riouwstraat 29 groundfloor in Amsterdam. There his brother Joseph came living in on 29 April 1932, who was divorced since 1921 from his cousin Sara Roodenburg. On 2 November 1932 Abraham moved with his wife Rosa and son Henri and his brother Joseph to Insulindeweg 17 ground floor in Amsterdam East.
On 17 June 1942, Abraham Roodenburg got a "Sperre" for himself and his family. He was exempted from deportation until further notice ("bis auf weiteres") "because of function". Abraham then was a fuel trader. Despite his exemption from deportation, the family probably went into hiding, whereby they have been arrested somewhere in December 1943 by treason or otherwhise. On 16 December 1943 Abraham, Rosa and Henri were taken to Westerbork and locked up in the penal barrack 67.
On 25 January 1944 they were all put on transport to Auschwitz as "penal cases" where Rosa and Henri were immediately killed on arrival there on 28 January 1944. Abraham Roodenburg however even entered in the camp where he was put to work as forced laborer. He lost his life in Auschwitz on 31 July 1944.
