Biography

About Wolf David and his wife Antonetta Andriessen.

Wolf David was a son of Hartog David and Hendrika van der Sluijs. He was born in Rotterdam on 6 August 1868 and earned his living as a dealer in bicycles and parts. He married in Rotterdam on 7 December 1887 Antonetta Andriessen, born on 5 March 1870 in Den Bosch as daughter of Emanuel Andriessen and Mietje Wallig. The couple had five daughters, namely Hendrika in 1888, Roosje in 1889, Mietje in 1891, Elizabeth in 1893 and Kaatje in 1908.

After the wedding of Wolf and Antonetta in December 1887, they started their family in the Korte Pannekoekstraat 8 in Rotterdam. A number of re-locations followed in the city itself, where all their daughters were born, but on 18 November 1915 Wolf and Antonetta moved with their youngest daughter Kaatje to Ferdinand Bolstraat 114 in Amsterdam. From there on 3 March 1916 to Den Haag, where they stayed a few months in the Boekhorststraat 95 with their eldest daughter Hendrika, who was married in 1910 to Leon Tokkie. On 18 July 1916 they left for Rotterdam again and came living then in the Heerenstraat 9, a crossing with the Goudsche Singel.

At the age of 16, Kaatje left her parents to be married in Rotterdam on 14 August 1924 with the 23-year old Joël Jacobs, who was born in Antwerp, but from whom she has been divorced on 17 December 1930 in Brussels. Her parents left 16 August 1925 from Rotterdam for Antwerp, where they stayed shortly in the Grote Beerstraat 114 and moved on 4 December 1925 to Brussels, Avenue Clemenceau 110. On 21 June 1927 they returned to Rotterdam, and lived then at Goudscheweg 129b and in March 1934, the moved into a house at Kruiskade 23b. In the meantime, except dealer in bicycles and parts, Wolf David had become also dealer in electric articles.

Meanwhile, during the mandatory registration of the Jews in the Netherlands, Wolf David and his wife Antonetta Andriessen  “moved” from Rotterdam to Amsterdam; since 9 June 1941 they lived at Sarphatipark 51 1st floor – where their daughter Kaatje and her family lived at the 3rd floor – but via Ceintuurbaan 211 and housnumber 175 they ended up at the address Roerstraat 111 on 10 August 1942. From there, both were taken on 9 March 1943 to Westerbork and already deported on 10 March to Sobibor. On arrival there on 13 March 1943, they were both immediately killed in the gas chambers there.
