During the war, Jacob stayed in the following camps in France:
- Chateauneuf les Bains (August 1942 to September 1942);
- Rivesaltes concentration camp (September 1942 to January 1943);
- Combronde (January 1943 to March 1943);
- Annecy (June 1943 to August 1943).
According to the register of the Dutch Red Cross in Geneva, he arrived in Switzerland on August 11, 1943.
He died on May 25, 1924 at the age of 39. The obituary in the NIW of December 6, 1963 does not mention where he died. He is buried in Muiderberg.
