Max Koppel was born in Goch/Germany (10.5.1899). Later he lived in Krefeld Uerdingen and Berlin. He married Herta Cohn from Veersen (born: 15.03.1907) an on the 21rst of December 1934 their son Peter Klaus was born in Berlin. Later they emigrated to the Netherlands an lived in Helmont, am Steenweg 10a with a relative of Herta named Henrietta Cohn-Goldstein. Henriette commited suicide at the age of 68 due to the difficult circumstances. In 1941 Max´s mother, Klara Koppel from Goch lived with the family. On the 28th of August 1942 they were taken to Camp Westerbork near Apeldoorn, where they stayed for two days. On the 31rst of August they were taken to Auschwitz by train with 565 other jews. They arrived on the 1rst of September. Herta and her son Peter were killed on the 3rd of September 1942. Max survived until the 31.3.1944, when he died in Central Europe.
