Lotte came to the Netherlands on January 4th, 1939, with a Kindertransport. She first stayed in Bergen aan Zee, then in many different facilities for refugee children. In September 1940 she moved to the orphanage in Utrecht.
Her mother, Selma Markus, born in 1893 in Lohr, had passed away already when Lotte came to the Netherlands. Her father was Jacob Stern, born in 1894 in Braunsbach was a salesman, and trying to emigrate to the US. He was deported to Riga Jungfernhof in December 1941.
Last address in Germany: Rheingasse, Braunsbach. In April 1939 her father was living in Schwäbische Halle, Untere Herrengasse 4.
