Elisabeth ('Lien') and Jacob ('Jaapje'?) Oostra-Boas lived in hide some time with the widow Ramakers and her three daughters, Nicolaas Beetsstraat 23, III Amsterdam. Mr. Ramakers had passed away short before. He worked with hotels and restaurants; for a time the familie lived in Brussels. Henri Oostra was living in hide elsewhere and visited his wife and son every day. He had a textile factory. Sometimes he brought textiles to the Ramakers to make clothing of. The daughter who tells this story married after the war in such a dress. Then, a NSB-familie came to live below the Ramakers apartment - NSB meaning the pro-German National Socialist Movement. The hiding place became too dangerous for Lien and Jacob - and for the Ramakers as well. After the war they understood that the Oostra family did not survive the Holocaust. The widow kept a picture of Jacob touching his toy horse. The daughter, mrs. Zegwaaard-Ramakers, preserved the photo, but for a long time didn't have the courage to look to it. Now it is in her living room. She started to talk about Jacob when we accidentally were speaking about the Second World War.
