Branke Helene van Amerongen fled to Mandatory Palestine after the occupation of the Netherlands. Her brother-in-law, Lion Nordheim, was very involved in the Zionist movement, and her then-husband was a doctor, increasing their chances of being granted a visa.
She survived the war in Mandatory Palestine, presumably divorced her husband, and re-married. She died shortly after giving birth to her second child, allegedly after coming down with polio.
