born January 1st 1853 at 9pm in Horstein (Germany) at st. #58. he is the 9th son of David and Sarah Rothschild. his father was a farmer. Joseph married Philippine Hamburger on December 22, 1875 in Hörstein. They had 12 children: Leopold, Moritz, Sessie, David, Daniel, Oskar, Alfred, Hermann, Salli, Malli, Simon and Carolina. He was a farmer like his father.
He moved to Frankfurt to 15 Danziger Platz on Oct 6. 1938. then moved to Amsterdam and lived at Velazquezstraat 17. He lived there with his daughter Dr. Malli Rothschild.
He resisted a nazi soldier that came to his house, and hit him with his walking cane.
Later, Joseph was deported to Westerbork Camp in Holland, and then to Auschwitz on February 16th 1943. His daughter Malli was sent to Sobivor extermination Camp. He was murdered 3 days after his deportation to Auschwitz on Feb. 19, 1943 in Auschwitz, he was 90 years old!...RIP
