Subject: Stumbling Stone have been placed for Ruth’s family
I was in Holland during the month of November visiting with family and friends. It was good to be there  and catch up with everyone. Last year in November the placing of the Stumbling Blocks in front of Ruth’s grandmothers home was cancelled due the enforcement of strict Covid-19’s rules. So it was rescheduled for this year.

The dedication ceremony took place on Sunday afternoon, November 13 at 2 pm in front of the home at the JulianaLaan 207 in De Bilth.

It was a moving and dignified ceremony it lasted for about 40 minutes. The 4 members of the Stumbling Stones Committee were all there as well as the Mayor of the City.
They invited other survivors of the Holocaust, the current owners of the home, neighbors as well as members of the local Jewish Community.

A lady of the committee told about the work of the Stumbling StonesCommittee and about the German artist Gunter Demmig who was the creator these Stumbling Stones.
He has has been able to place over 70.000 stone all over Europe in front of the homes were the Jewish Holocaust victims lived.

The Chairman of the committee Mr.Evert Teunissen told the story of Ruth’s grandmother her children and grandchildren. He than read there names, dated of birth,
And the date transportation to the concentration camps and the date and place where they died.

Then I was asked the lay the five stones into the pavement in front of the house. A Jewish member of the committee who was from the local Jewish community prayed the Kaddish.

Than Mr. Teunissen explained the meaning and the laying of the small stones on top of the Stumbling Stones. And he asked everyone present to participate.

Ruth knew that the Stumbling Stones were going to be dedicated. This ment a lot to her and she was so appreciative of this. It gave her a sense of closer knowing there was a place to visit the stones in remembrance of her family members.
The Stumbling Blocks were place for:
Jeanette Behr-Daniel the grandmother
Frieda Daniël, daughter
Joseph Daniël, son
Helene Daniel-Scheuer, daughter
Ernst Scheuer, grandson
