Max was the younger brother of Jannie, my mother. She survived the war and immigrated to Israel in 1948. In Israel, her name was Miriam Bezek. She remembered him as her only and beloved brother. She had in her Albums many pictures of him when they were children.

In 1942 he went into hiding in Delft above the greengrocer. When that hiding place was uncovered, he managed to escape and found a hiding place at Jan Klein house in The Hague. Unfortunately, this hiding place was also uncovered. The fantastic story of the Jan Klein hiding place can be found at this link: Jan Kasper Klein.

At that hiding place, there was an artist, Bob Denneboom, who made this painting. I believe that the person seating in the back of the room is Max. What a thrill it was to find one more picture of my Uncle Max whom I never met.
