Does anyone know when Ruth and/or Ilse came to the Netherlands?
No exact date, but according to a claim their father Max Gappe filed in 1958 with the Entschädigungsamt, both girls were sent to the Netherlands by his first wife, Adele Gappe neé Hoffnung, while he was interned in Buchenwald. I did not check up on the dates, but he lists November 10th 1938 as the date of his arrest and July 5th 1939 as the date he departed for Shanghai.
