Heintje went to Chile in 1939 with her second husband Coenraad Bromet and the son of her first marriage with Maurits Polak, Meijer, born on July 1, 1914. Heintje and Coenraad had no children but they were happy with Max, as they called their son and their two granddaughters, Isabel (my mother) and Elaine, out of affection. She always remembered with great feeling all the family of her dead of her in the Shoah. Coenraad died of cancer on August 14, 1966, and Heintje on May 17, 1972. Both are buried in the Israelite Cemetery of Conchalí in Santiago, Chile.
