The 3 November 1942 death date calculated for Samson is based on the assumption that he did not pass selection.
However, surviving documentation shows that Samson did pass selection and was assigned prisoner number 72730. We know that prisoner number 72730 was assigned on 3 November 1942 at Auschwitz, to a prisoner that was on Mechelen Convoy XVII, which is the transport that Samson Pimontel was on.
Samson Pimontel was registered in Auschwitz I's hospital block (barrack 28), and unfortunately eventually in the Leichenhalle, or the mortuary book. Both books were kept by other prisoners and not the SS; the Leichenhalle book was smuggled out of Auschwitz during the war by inmates Stefam Markowski, Stanislaw Klodzinski, and Jozef Rog and ended up in Krakow. That is to say, the books contents are accurate without a question of a doubt.
Samson's date of death in the Leichenhalle is noted as 11 December 1942.
