Jacob Levie was a merchant and a casual worker. He was married to Judik de Jong. They had four children: Debora, Julius Jakob (known as Juultje), Samuel and Floratiene. The family lived at 74 Viaductstraat in Ter Apel. Sippora de Jong-Levenson, Judik's mother, lived with them.
