Abraham (Bob) Wijnberg en Mimi Gobits leerden elkaar kennen in 1932 bij de huldiging van Nehemia de Lieme in Amsterdam. In 1941 ging Bob in het gewapend verzet. Mimi dook onder met hun kind in Ilpendam. Uit die dertien jaar is een uitgebreide correspondentie bewaard gebleven tussen hen beiden en tientallen familieleden, onder andere uit Palestina en de onderduik.
