Meijer Polak studeerde van 1920 tot 1933 Engelse letteren aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Hij promoveerde tot doctor in de letteren en wijsbegeerte op 5 juli 1933 op het proefschrift "Historical, philosophical and religious aspects of John Inglesant".
