Walter en zijn zusje Margrit waren leerlingen van de 1e Montessorischool aan de Corellistraat in Amsterdam. In deze school is een plaquette aangebracht waarop hun namen staat vermeld.

Walters en Margrits namen komen ook voor op twee van de koffers van het kunstwerk In Memoriam van Willem Volkersz.

Margrit, Walter and their parents fled Nazi Germany in 1934. They lived in the Beethovenstraat, near the Montessori school. The family was arrested in January 1944 and brought to Westerbork. From there they were deported to Theresienstadt and Auschwitz-Birkenau.
