Ruth Fanny Hanover lost a leg in 1938 in a traffic accident. In April 1939 she emigrated to the Netherlands. Her parents followed her soon and then managed to emigrate to the USA. Presumably Ruth Fanny did not get a visa for the USA because of her handicap. Since that time she lived with several host families in Amsterdam.
