In 1934, a Quaker school was set up in Eerde (Ommen town). A few young German refugees visited the school, where they were educated for a farming life in Palestine. On 1 September 1941, the Jewish pupils were transferred to a separate school in Eerde under the management of a female Jewish teacher. Otto Edgar Rosenstern was among them.
