Louis Nathan van Dien and his family

Louis Nathan van Dien was the son of Nathan David van Dien and Judik Levie Goudsmit. He was married to Sara Walg. He and his wife had a son, Nathan. The family lived at 3 Stationsstraat.

The couple owned a shop at 98 Van Manderloostraat, at the corner of the Aarkade in Alphen aan den Rijn. The shop sold a vast selection of goods, from stockings, rugs and tablecloths to complete dining room and bedroom furnishings. The business was registered with the Leiden Chamber of Commerce in 1921. In 1939 the one-man business became a partnership with two partners, Louis Nathan and his son Nathan.

The home at 3 Stationsstraat was confiscated in August 1942, and the couple moved to 62 Van Manderloostraat, where Emanuel van Rhijn lived with his family as well. Shortly after their move, Louis Nathan van Dien and his wife Sara Walg were fetched from there and deported to Auschwitz via Westerbork.
