During the war Frits Kaufmann and his family tried to flee to Switzerland through France. In France Frits Kaufmann was caught and deported to Auschwitz. His family managed to reach Switzerland and survived the war.

Access is subject to authorization from the Stichting Joods Maatschappelijk Werk.The Jokos files reveal that a claim was lodged for compensation for valuables surrendered to the Lippmann-Rosenthal looting bank (L-claims, numbers 3311/8163, 6257/8446).
