Leonard Louis Horneman was a butcher's son. Next to Leonard, the Hornemans had two other children. Leonard read economics at Rotterdam university and went on to work as a manager in the WEKA toyfactory of the Kann brothers in Oldenzaal. He was married, in May of 1941. In May of 1942, his wife gave birth. Leonards wife and child survived the war.
