Dick Gazan went to the 'Eerste Openbare Handelsschool (OHS)' until 1942. At that time he attended the third class. In his spare time he used to play with a friend on what was then called the ''opgespoten land' at the end of the Hoofdweg, where they later built the 'Bos- en Lommerbuurt'.
