Sara Cohen was a daughter of Izak Cohen and Hanna Meijer Smeer. 24 October 1897 she married Azor Smeer from Heerenveen in Zaandam, a son of Meijer Nathan Smeer and Leentje Wolfs. The couple had five children, namely Meijer in 1898, Izak in 1902, Jacob in 1904, Leentje in 1910 and Louis in 1918. All five the children have been killed in the Holocaust..
After their marriage, Sara and Azor lived at Korte Keizersstraat 13 in Amsterdam. However, they frequently moved in Amsterdam, even to Duisburg (Germany) and also to Den Haag:
11 December 1897 they move to Kleersloot 10 in Amsterdam;
12 February 1907 to Korte Keizersdwarsstraat 4;
6 May 1907 to Korte Keizersstrat 4;
9 April 1910 to Lange Houtstraat 44;
6 December 1911 Azor Smeer and Sara Cohen left for Duisburg and .....
2 April 1927 they returned and lived at Ternatestraat 13 in Amsterdam.
5 September they move to Sumatrastraat 129 ;
28 December 1929 they go to Bonisstraat 16.
16 September 1932 they live at Nieuwe Achtergracht 107;
3 September 1934 they leave for Den Haag, Van Musschenbroekstraat 157.
7 Maart 1935 they return to Amsterdam at Lepelkruisstraat 7.
5 December 1935 they leave for 2e Oosterparkstraat 27, and ......
13 Juli 1936 they move to 2e van Swindenstraat 53 down floor.
1 February 1938 Sara's spouse Azor Smeer passed away, 73 years old. He is interred in the Jewish Cemetery in Diemen.
After the passing of her husband, Sara moved again 9 May 1938 to Den Haag where she stayed till February 1939 with her daughter Leentje who lived at Antheuniusstraat 16. She has moved in June 1934 with her husband Emanuel Neter to Den Haag, where they lived at Albert Piersonlaan 114 and since March 1938 at Antheuniusstraat 16. Also Sara's unmarried son Meijer, who lived in since 1937 with Sara in Amsterdam, goes with his mother to Den Haag.
22 February 1939 Sara and her son Meijer returned in Amsterdam and live at Leeuwenhoekstraat 2, but after six months, 13 November 1939 she moves to Nieuwe Achtergracht 57 I, and her son to Nieuwe Achtergracht 57 III.
29 January 1941 Sara Cohen marries again to Isaac Sluijter, the widower of Roosje Presser (died in March 1938). He was a son of Wolf Sluijter and Catharina Koopman. Isaac Sluijter came already living in with Sara Cohen 6 February 1940 at Nieuwe Achtergracht 57 I. Both have been deported from Westerbork to Sobibor 23 March 1943 and upon arrival there 26 March 1943, immediately killed.
