Simon Beek was a son of Izaak Leon Beek and Matje Mok. He was born 12 February 1897 in Amsterdam and married 28 May 1931 in Gouda Henrietta Mogendorff, born in Gouda 29 January 1906 as daughter of Jacques Mogendorff and Mietje Meijer. The couple had a son in 1932, born in Amsterdam, named John.
Simon was a commercial traveler in men’s fashion and lived at Van Eeghenstraat 61 parterre in Amsterdam, moved in May 1939 to Willemsparkweg 180 parterra, in September 1939 to Jacob Obrechtplein 9 1st floor and to Maasstraat 139 1st floor. On 19 February, his address became Niersstraat 15 2nd floor, where he lived in with Soesman and on 3 June 1940 Simon Beek moved to Statenweg 74 in Rotterdam, where he lived in with the family of his brother Samson Beek.
After her marriage on 28 May 1931 in Gouda, Henrietta Mogendorff, who worked as housekeeper, to Amsterdam where she lived at several addrresss till 1934. On 19 August 1935 she moved in at Van Eeghenstraat 61 parterre where her husband lived. On 31 May 1939 Henrietta moved to Bleekerssingel 51 in Gouda and fromthere on 9 April 1940 to Niersstraat 16 2nd floor in Amsterdam, where she lived in with J. van Gasteren. On 3 September 1940 she moved again, now to Schietbaanlaan 42 in Rotterdam, where the Jewish Hospital Megon Hatsedek was located. Unclear is whether she was taken in there as a patient or that she was employed there.
From registration with the Jewish Council, it appeared that Simon Beek, his wife Henrietta Mogendorff and their son John lived aat Statenweg 121 B in Rotterdam. From there they were taken and brought to Westerbork, from where they have been put on transport to Auschwitz. On 16 February. On arrival there on 19 February 1943 they were all immediately murdered.
