Jakob (Jacob) Rothschild was in december 1933 vanuit Gronau  in Zwolle komen wonen omdat hij "als niet-arische slager geen bestaan meer" had in Duitsland. Zijn vrouw hield kostgangers. Jakob Rothschild zijn de verschrikkingen van de kampen bespaard gebleven.
