Marcus Turksma was a son of Eliazer Turksma and Betje Vomberg. He lived and worked in Zutphen. There he had a butchers shop and he also worked at a meat factory. Marcus Turksma was married to a non-Jewish woman, from whom he got divorced in 1938.
On October 4, 1941, Marcus Turksma was arrested at home by the Dutch police. His three children survived the war.
