Dr. Benno Gutmann Rülf was married to Helena Meijer. The couple had two children, who both survived the war. Dr. Rülf worked at the the patent office in Cologne. Together with his wife he fled to the Netherlands in 1938. They settled in The Hague, and later in Utrecht.
