Salomon Polak was a son of Mozes Polak. He was a successful furniture and real estate merchant. He lived temporarily in Zutphen and returned to Leeuwarden in 1903.

Salomon Polak and Berta Polak-Caneel had two more children who survived the war. These children had already left the parental house in April 1942.
