David Sanders and his family

David Sanders and his wife Clara Keizer were in hiding at a widow's house in the Eerste Helmersstraat in Amsterdam. Clara suffered from asthma and therefore visited a physiotherapist. David accompanied his wife. A member of the Kolonne Henneicke specialised in recognising Jews in the street arrested the couple at the end of August 1943. 'In Amsterdam sloegen ze bijvoorbeelde de opgepakte David Sanders net zo lang tot hij de onderduikadressen van zijn kinderen gaf. De jongste twee, Marleentje 8jr en Bertje 4 jr, werden nog dezelfde dag gearresteerd bij een familie in Sliedrecht. De 10-jarige Ellie werd opgepakt bij een boerengezin in Barchem. Kort daarna werd het hele gezin in Auschwitz vermoord'.
