Heiman Assur is een zoon van Samuel Heiman de Groot en Hannchen Elias Frank. Hij trouwde 28 juli 1901 met Marianne Cohen (Groningen, 31 mei 1867), dochter van Liepman Joseph Cohen en Willemina van Hessen.
