Jonas Valk was a son of Simon Valk and Rachel de Jong. At the age of 18, he left the parental home. He lived and worked in Emmen. In August 1942, he was put to work in Linde, one of the Jewish work camps. Fairly soon afterwards, he was deported to Auschwitz via Westerbork.
